  • Request For Proposals

To the Louisiana US congressional delegation

I asked DS (alias) from Zachary, LA what kind of federal legislative proposals she would like to see before the next congressional election. She would like some legislative proposals in two areas before the next vote:

    1. Immigration and
    2. Social Security.

She was also concerned about immigrants arriving by the plane full. This NPR story about migrants using charter planes to get into the US may not be an exact match, but wanting better control over who enters our country and how is a very legitimate concern.

Thank you to DS for sharing and raising the bar just a little on what we should expect from our congressional delegation.

  • Real Proposal (Looks Like)

A real proposal describes the cost and where the money comes from.

    Example Proposal Format:
Raise $10 billion in new income taxes per year to fund 30,000 new Medicaid covered inpatient psychiatric beds.

Borrowing is another way to get money. Wishful thinking is not.

    Wishful Thinking:
    Lower the cost of healthcare.

  • “Simple” Bill Cassidy Experiment

Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is a medical doctor and senator. On his campaign issues page he has a healthcare section that doesn’t contain a single healthcare proposal.

Experiment: Can I get him to add a real proposal to his healthcare section by asking?

People should know what they are voting for. #AnswerToMe
